Architects Unbound, in association with Bau Design Investments (Pty) Ltd, are currently leading the refurbishment of Kings Mall, guiding its transformation through a comprehensive upgrade that is reshaping the centre’s architectural identity and retail offering. The works underway include improved circulation routes, refreshed façades, enhanced lighting strategies, and modernised tenant interfaces, all aimed at creating a brighter, more contemporary shopping environment. As construction progresses, the project is strengthening the mall’s commercial presence within the Gonubie community and positioning the centre to meet current retail and urban design standards once complete.

Mbhashe LG Mall - Dutywa, Eastern Cape
Mbhashe LG Mall in Dutywa stands as one of the town’s most prominent commercial landmarks, and Architects Unbound, in association with MDS Architecture, played a key role in shaping its modern, community‑focused design. Positioned strategically along the N2 corridor, the mall draws shoppers from Dutywa and surrounding rural villages, offering a well‑planned mix of national retailers, essential services, and local businesses. The development has strengthened the region’s economic activity by creating a safer, more structured retail environment and reducing the need for residents to travel to larger centres such as Mthatha or East London for everyday goods.
Fingoland Mall - Butterworth, Eastern Cape
Architects Unbound, in association with Jannie Meyer Retail Architects, are actively involved in the additions and refurbishment of Fingoland Mall in Butterworth, Eastern Cape. The project focuses on expanding the mall’s retail capacity while upgrading existing infrastructure to create a more contemporary, efficient, and community‑centred shopping environment. Once complete, the redevelopment will strengthen Fingoland Mall’s role as a key commercial hub for Butterworth and its surrounding rural communities.
